What Sets Us Apart? Recently we were asked by a prospective client, "Your work truly sets you apart from the crowd. What can you tell me about yourselves that truly makes you different and sets you apart from your competition?" Unquestionably I would have to answer that it is the exceptional service we give to each of our clients and their families. From the original meeting with the Bride and Groom, until the newly-married couple departs for their honeymoon, our total focus is on helping the Bride and Groom have the Day of their Dreams. This is typically what you can expect if you select us to photograph your wedding: At the initial meeting, we are happy to give you referrals for other services you may still need to arrange. We want you to be as pleased with the other vendors you choose as we know you will be with us! We have worked with almost everyone in the wedding industry and know well the strengths of each one. Recently while photographing a wedding, we saw the mother of an upcoming bride who had come to show the church to the groom's parents. She told the groom's mother, "These are the Gillinghams. They will be our photographers, but they are so much more than that! They are my mentors! We couldn't plan this wedding without them!" Also, we are glad to answer any questions you may have in regard to the planning of your wedding day. If this is the first wedding in your family, the decisions can seem almost overwhelming. It is our desire to make the planning phase fun for you as well as the wedding itself. You're only going to do this once -- We want you to enjoy the whole experience! Throughout your planning, we are always available for consultation. A few weeks out, we'll ask you to update all our information on your wedding plans. We'll schedule a final consultation to prepare with you and your fiancée the photography plan for your wedding day, including the not-to-be-missed photographs. Based on what you have told us, we will prepare for you a customized list of photographs that can be taken with the special individuals who are important to you. As we talk through it together, we will add, subtract and modify the shots according to your wishes. Working with the two of you, and adding anything special the mothers also want, we make a plan so that all the important photographs can be taken in a fun, relaxed, hassle-free way for you. This lets you relax on the wedding day, knowing we won't forget your important must-have shots! Of course, we bring enough film for two weddings to your wedding so that many spontaneous candids can also be taken. And since we are totally flexible, we are able to take any other photos you don't think of until that day as well as beautiful creative exposures which are unique to your wedding. Also working with you, we prepare time schedules to give to each member of the wedding party and family, so they will know what time to be ready and where to be and when to be there. We make sure a copy gets to the florist so your flowers will be ready on time also. We want to take any stresses we can off of you! It is very important to us to help you enjoy your wedding! We'll arrive early on your wedding day with a smile and an upbeat can-do attitude! We're going to have fun and help you have fun too! We'll photograph you on this most important day with the very best professional equipment for which we bring plenty of back-up equipment. You can be assured that both our dress and demeanor will be totally professional. Our years of experience and knowledge of photographing people at their most flattering angles will assure that everyone looks their very best! Should your dress be wrinkled when you arrive at the church, no problem. We have a commercial steamer with us that can be quickly set up so you can be assured of looking perfect on your wedding day! Of course we always bring other supplies often forgotten such as safety pins, sewing kits, extra corsage pins and even extra studs for the men's tuxes. Every time we remove a problem for you and add a smile to your face, it makes it easier for us to get great photographs of you! A bride and groom who are happy and having fun are so much easier to photograph! On the day of the wedding, both Tom and Mary Lynn Gillingham will be photographing the candid moments. If you like candids in the dressing rooms, Mary Lynn can capture those action shots in the bride's room while Tom works in the groom's room. During the ceremony, Mary Lynn gets a panoramic view from the balcony of your guests as they stand, anxiously awaiting the appearance of the bride, while Tom gets you on Dad's arm starting down the aisle. Mary Lynn can capture the "first kiss" and presentation of the new "Mr. & Mrs." while Tom waits at the end of the aisle to get you coming up the aisle, kissing and hugging. That wonderful blissful look on your faces when you first walk out of the church is a look of utter ecstasy not to be missed! Afterwards at the reception, while Tom is photographing the requisite cake cutting shots, Mary Lynn is capturing the faces of parents tearfully watching or small children anxious for that first bite of chocolate cake! Throughout the reception, both Tom and Mary Lynn will be photographing all the exciting and fun events as they unfold. You can't be everywhere at once, but with both Tom and Mary Lynn photographing, you won't miss a thing! After the wedding, when it comes time to design your wedding album, we'll take your ideas and work together at the computer to help you choose from many differently shaped mats and create a totally unique, one-of-a-kind customized album. We'll then prepare it for you with a great deal of time and pride, so you will have a lifetime of enjoyment. After all, except for your rings, the wedding album is the only thing from your wedding day that you will keep forever (other than the groom!).
